I added 7.7 to NMM but when I try to activate I get the error message, just like the OP mentioned. There's no manual install instructions and NMM is not working.
As I looked through the 7.7.zip (FunnyBizAnimationsV7.7.zip) I noticed a bunch of folders which could be manually put into the skyrim/data folder but didn't notice any ESM so I don't see how any MCM menu is going to be registered if I do just simply put all the files in my data folder. Yes, I was looking for the thread for the mod when I saw this thread had been started so I replied here.
Any help on this would be awesome. ^^ EDIT: I downloaded NonReplacerModPatchedV7.6 and noticed it DOES have an ESM as well as some scripts. But 7.7 is newer isn't it? Am I supposed to install the old version then update? I'm having this problem too. When I select the mod through NMM, it does not install and no prompt comes up but when I check mod activation queue, I see an error message that reads.
'A problem occurred during install: The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters. The mod was not installed.' Edit: If you guys got the error, just try renaming the file. I renamed FunnyBizAnimationV12.1 to FBA and it installed without any problems.

More info is needed, which window is never ending, the Mod organizer 'Running installer' window or the actual Install cbbe window. If it is the first one then I have to ask which version of MO are you running? In versions prior to 1.0.12 the install window would not raise above any full screen window and the icon would not appear in the task bar. This appears to be fixed in v1.0.12. Try to minimize any full screen windows or alt tab to see if you can switch to it. I hope I interpreted your question correctly.
Report back if I missed the mark. I have downloaded Calientes Beautiful Bodies Edition -CBBE- by Caliente to test this for you. Using MO 1.0.12. After I say install, it takes about 30-35 seconds on my system before I get the windows with install options. It also pops to the foreground. After that it installs.
I have tried 'fomod installer' and the NCC based 'fomod installer (external)', both work. To switch from the default 'fomod installer' go to the plugin settings and change setting 'prefered' from true to false for the 'fomod installer'.
Perhaps a few others could try to install it as well. That way we see if there are others with your problem.
Could you create a fresh MO install and then download CBBE 3.2.3 in it and see if it works then. Remember you can have multiple MO installs which do NOT interact with each other. I have 6 MO installs on my system, some for testing stuff out like the NMM importer. Please create a ticket for it in the issue tracker so Tannin can have a look at it.
I've tried installing FNIS about half a dozen times, with steps like disabling antivirus while installing and opening up all permissions to the skyrim install file, but Nexus Mod Manager keeps spitting out this message, and I can't find any other sources that lead me in a direction to fix it: A problem occurred during install: The process cannot access the file 'C: Users Bluto AppData Local Temp NexusModManager 551otdau.oms FNIS Behavior 6.3 Data tools GenerateFNISforModders generatefnisformodders.exe' because it is being used by another process. The mod was not installed.
// Install // The fine folks over at GamerPoets suggested I give y'all a try. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to render. The best answer I can give you is: FNIS isn't really a 'mod', in the truest sense of the definition, rather it is a tool that accesses the Data folder. Since STEP recommends Mod Organizer I could advise you to switch, but that probably isn't the answer you're after. Please note the sticky post on the FNIS forum is wrong, FNIS works perfectly well with MO. Now specifically the error message occurs because NMM is trying to access the tool that is found in the temporary folder used during the installation, this is wrong and I have no specific answer for that other than following exactly.

XP32 Maximum Skeleton - XPMS by xp32 - is outdated. You should use: XP32 Maximum Skeleton Extended - XPMSE by Groovtama - As to NMM, I have nearly 700 mods, and no problems.

That being said, Mod organizer is a highly recommended program, though the initial learning curve is steeper; see: Mod Organizer by Tannin - It should be pointed out, however, that MO is no longer being supported, as the author - Tannin - has been hired by Nexus and is currently developing their new manager, called Vortex. Also, you should read: Player spreadsheet - Player and Modding Resources by Ilja VERY IMPORTANT if you wish to successfully mod your game As to problems with install, it can sometimes be caused by the file getting corrupted in the download.

If you encounter that problem with the install, try downloading the mod again. Mod Organizer is an alternative to the Nexus Mod Manager, its highly popular with those who run mods consistantly. The basic idea is based on seperating mods from the core skyrim folders. This means that your installation files remain pure and untouched by mod installed, but the mods you install instead install into a folder inside Mod Organiser that allows MO itself to connect the mods with your skyrim when you initiate the game. But if that wall of text is a poor description, there is a large assortment of guides and tutorials on youtube if you wish to know more about Mod Organiser. This is true, but the latest verwion of NMM also uses a virtual file system, so that the core files also remain unchanged - just as they do when using MO. The main difference now is with setting up profiles - MO's system is far superior to NMM's profile system (which is the real reason to be using MO). This means that mod content in your game is missing or poorly managed, if you did not create a Bashed Patch for your game. Wrye Bash comes with an installer.
